Pier Arts Centre, Stromness
Presented as part of Margaret Tait 100, this film programme will feature a selection of Tait’s films alongside the work of Glasgow-based artist, filmmaker and musician Luke Fowler. Fowler, a recipient of the Jarman Award in 2008 and nominee for the Turner Prize in 2012, is currently working on a feature-length portrait on Tait as part of a commission for Edinburgh International Arts Festival, 2020.
This special screening will be the first centenary event in Scotland to exhibit Tait’s work in 16mm, her intended format. Films include: Tait’s Aspects of Kirkwall: Occasions (1977) The Leaden Echo and the Golden Echo (1955), and Colour Poems (1974), alongside Fowler’s Tenement Films (2009), For Christian (2016), Abbeyview (2008) and Advance the Unknown (extracts) (2008/2009).
